MAIN STAGE

Easter Salubong
The Easter Salubong is a long-standing Lenten event in the Philippines, taking place during the early hours of Easter Sunday and after the Easter Vigil on Black Saturday. The celebration involves a reenactment of the meeting, termed in Filipino as "salubong", between Jesus Christ and Mary after His resurrection.

Event Details:
The Easter Salubong hosts two kinds of processions: one for the resurrected Jesus Christ's statue, and the other for Mother Mary's veiled statue. These processions meet at a specific spot, often in the church grounds, where a young child dressed like an angel lifts the veil of Mother Mary's statue while other children representing the angels shower flowers within the area.

 SPOTLIGHT

Each week we will feature an interesting leader of the Filipino events community - from producers to choreographers to venue operators to performers & more. There are so many amazing personalities and creators and we are excited to share these stories!

Name: A || Z Aryn and Zsaris

Role: Improv Music Duo

Describe your role: We do live performances and create songs on the spot based on audience interaction. We both sing, rap, loop, and play our own instruments. We love every performance because it's always different. Getting to know our audience is so much fun for us, so collaborating with them through improvised music brings us so much joy.

Favorite part of your job: Being able to create this closely with a friend is always fulfilling. What makes it more interesting is that we are able to collaborate with strangers and we get to know them a little bit more with each performance.

Best performance you ever had and why?
There are too many to mention, because each performance gave us something in return. But we will say that our very first performance together in La Union was magical because we had never done that in front of an audience before and it was so well-received. We were very proud of ourselves after that, and it drove us to want to do more.

Any upcoming events you're excited for and why?
We are performing in Bangkok on April 19 and in Vietnam in May. We love traveling and performing together because it makes the vacation have more purpose than just going around.

Current obsession: We love Ena Mori, 2000s pop music, and food.
