SPOTLIGHT
Each week we will feature an interesting leader of the Filipino events community - from producers to choreographers to venue operators to performers & more. There are so many amazing personalities and creators and we are excited to share these stories!
Name: Celine Veloso
Role: General Manager
Describe your role: Overseeing day-to-day operations of all the different services that Draper Startup House Manila offers such as the hotel, work spaces, f&b concepts, events, programs, and partnerships.
Favorite part of your job: I love that I get to do meaningful work that is aligned to our company's mission - to connect, inspire, and empower entrepreneurs. Nothing makes me more happy than hearing stories from our guests who found business success from any of our touch points.
Best event you ever went to and why?
One of the best events I ever went to was the Draper Pob Crawl that we organized last year. We managed to successfully traffic almost 100 people on a bar-hopping frenzy across Poblacion. I thoroughly enjoyed it because we were able to collaborate with our neighbour establishments and at the same time being able to bring the Web2 and Web3 communities together. It was a such a fun and memorable evening for everyone, especially me.
Any upcoming events you're excited for and why?
I always look forward to our monthly Bitcoin, Beer, and Bitstories event because I get to be updated on the latest Web3 news, I get to discover new companies, and I get to meet inspiring leaders in the space.
If you could hang out with any cultural figure from history, who would it be?
It would be interesting to hang out with Nikola Tesla. He seems incredibly smart and ahead of his time. I imagine him to be quirky to talk to! :)
BIG BRAIN MOMENT
Interesting facts & trivia from the Philippines culture & events community
Trivia Question
Answer: 54! These holes allow steam to escape during cooking, keeping the crackers flat and properly crisp. In fact, without these holes, crackers wouldn't bake correctly. It's amazing how such a small detail can make a big difference in the taste and texture of a biscuit. Sky Flakes has been the undisputed number 1 cracker Filipino brand since the 1960s.
Interesting Culture Fact!
Soup No. 5, a popular Filipino street food known as "Lamanglupa," gets its name from the beef's fifth quarter includes the bull's testicles, believed to be an aphrodisiac and invented by the Tausug community in Mindanao.
