Interesting facts & trivia from the Philippines culture & events community

Trivia Question

Answer: Dolphy Quizon. The Comedy King, Dolphy, popularized drag in local cinemas. He was an avid storyteller who portrayed queer roles in movies like Markova: Comfort Gay (2000) and Ang Nanay Kong Tatay (1978). While this artistry was initially considered humorous, it paved the way for drag to turn into something creative, authentic and revolutionary.

Interesting Culture Fact!

It was also a hallmark of the consumerist and materialist culture that the Philippines inherited from the Americans during the colonial period. Today, several malls and shopping centers can be found around the country.
