 SPOTLIGHT

Each week we will feature an interesting leader of the Filipino events community - from producers to choreographers to venue operators to performers & more. There are so many amazing personalities and creators and we are excited to share these stories!

Name: Cris Cao

Role: Production Associate and Coordinator at Project 8 and Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast (AWKP)

Describe your role: In one word: coordination. My role is to make sure everything in the production goes smoothly and the concerns and needs of everyone will be addressed. As Direk JP always says, “Communication is key!”

For my role, that is the best way to manage everything!

Favorite part of your job: Telling stories! As a filmmaker, my ultimate goal in life is to tell stories through camera and art. It may sound cliché, but the most fulfilling part of my job is when audiences create their own perspectives and interpret my story, my creation, my film, in relation to their own lives.

Best performance you ever had and why?
Definitely my lock-in shoot in Korea last August! Everything went fast, and I wasn't expecting that I would get to go to Korea, experience Korea, and do what I love, which is telling stories with the film we shot. It's fascinating to be checking off items from my bucket list at a very unexpected time and in an unexpected way.

Any upcoming events you're excited for and why?
The coming months, some of the projects I worked on will be streamed on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and in cinemas nationwide! I am super excited to see the fruits of our labor and take pride in how far I've come from being just a boy from the province to being a part of the industry.

What's a valuable tip you have for fellow events community leaders/organizers?
When things get overwhelming sometimes, you just got to breathe and do things one at a time. You can break down, but make sure you break it down, step by step, one at a time. Remember, everything about achieving the things we really want is hard. We just have to take a deep breath and take that step. I believe in you!

Love,
CRIS

Current obsession: Fashion and Styling
