MAIN STAGE

PAGODA FESTIVAL
The Pagoda Festival is a provincial religious event known for its ceremonial river parade commemorating the Holy Cross of Wawa, a significant Catholic relic for Bulaceños.

The main attraction of the festival is a procession centered around the pagoda. During this period, a cross would be positioned on top of it. A tradition called ligiran would take place, wherein smaller boats surround and encircle the pagoda.

For this year’s Pagoda Festival, St. Martin of Tours Parish Bocaue welcomes everyone to take part of a sacred and enlightening journey to commemorate the Holy Cross of Wawa. It is expected that Congressman Ambrosio “Boy” Cruz Jr., accompanied by Mr. Anjo Mendoza and Ms. Regina Pualengco, will be present for the opening ceremony.

 SPOTLIGHT

Name: Clarisse Ricafort

Role: Account Executive at Active Social

Describe your role: My responsibilities as an Account Executive involve managing brand campaigns, whether they are paid or seeding (x deal), managing the event and guests, corresponding with KOLs and the media, pitching for a brand and competing with other marketing agencies, as well as coming up with ideas for marketing plans and executing campaigns.

Favorite part of your job: I used to say to myself that I wanted to experience the "Emily in Paris" feels in my own way and I can say that I am right now. I'm a social person so it's fulfilling to organize and attend events, I got the chance to meet a lot of people from different industries. It's challenging to work in an advertising agency because you have to think fast and be creative but seeing the brands that I've worked with so far, it's really satisfying.

Best event you ever went to and why?
The best event that I have ever been to was the recent H&M x Mugler launch here in the Philippines last May 2023. It was the biggest and most anticipated event that I've handled so far, the preparation was really challenging but it was all worth it during the event itself. It was indeed successful and all of us had a great time.

Any upcoming events you're excited for and why?
I am excited for our upcoming Clé de Peau Beauté event this coming July 2023. It's actually my second time to handle an event for this brand but this time it will be a bit different, it's a skin care launch to be held in a hotel suite to make it more luxe and intimate.

What's a valuable tip you have for fellow events community leaders/organizers?
Planning ahead of time is really one of the keys to make an event successful. It's important that you and your client are always aligned by consulting them on what they want but also make sure not to lose your creative touch along the preparation process.

Name a favorite movie or song you're liking recently.
I've been constantly listening to "Better than Revenge" by Taylor Swift, the whole Speak Now album actually.

BIG BRAIN MOMENT

Interesting facts & trivia from the Philippines culture & events community

Trivia Question

Answer: Our Mother of Perpetual Help

Catholics in the Philippines show a strong devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help by crowding Roxas Boulevard’s Baclaran Church every Wednesday to participate in Mass and engage in the Novena prayer dedicated to this holy Marian image. In Manila, Wednesdays have become widely known as "Baclaran Day" due to the heavy traffic near the shrine brought by the influx of devotees.

Interesting Culture Fact!

José Nepomuceno y Zialcita, the Founder of Philippine Cinema produced this movie, which launched the trope between two lovers belonging to opposite social classes. This kind of love story continues to be the model for the romantic genre of Filipino filmmaking in the 21st century.
