 SPOTLIGHT

Each week we will feature an interesting leader of the Filipino events community - from producers to choreographers to venue operators to performers & more. There are so many amazing personalities and creators and we are excited to share these stories!

Name: Christine Agua

Role: All Around Assistant

Describe your role: I am usually the most “epal” assistant. I am almost involved in every department. In making Hydro Manila Music Festival, I am in-charge of concessionaires, ticket selling/table bookings, logistics, and mainly finances. That’s why I claim myself to be the “all around assistant” because I am very diverse when we start planning our events. I am really happy doing events like this that’s why I don’t mind having all these workload.

Favorite part of your job: Meeting other people. In this wide industry, the most exciting part is meeting other people. It’s really nice having to meet people who are very passionate and knowledgeable in what they are doing. You get to learn and build friendship that can lead to business connections in the future.

Best performance you ever had and why?
Hydro Manila 2015.

Fun fact: I am 1 of the 17,000 people who attended the first ever Hydro Manila. This is where I started to get interest in getting involved in this kind of events. I started from being an event goer to now an event organizer.

Any upcoming events you're excited for and why?
Of course, Hydro Manila Music Festival 2023. After 3 years, it’s finally back! I am really looking forward to celebrate music, water, and life again. I really missed the crowd that enjoys every set of artists while soaking wet and making the grounds shake. It’s really exciting to watch a wide variety of artists like bands, solo artists, and DJs in one event. I hope to see you there!

What's a valuable tip you have for fellow events community leaders/organizers?
Do not cram! Always plan ahead of time and you need to be a hundred/thousand/million times ahead in any situation that might happen. Remember, making this kind of event not only requires you to make the most unforgettable, happy, or exciting event but the safety of everyone also lies in your hands.

Current obsession: Walking! I really like walking these past few days. It makes me think clearly. Aside from that I can burn calories without even pushing it because I’m busy reflecting while walking. After that I noticed that I can work and accomplish more.
