DUYAN KA NG MAGITING: 125th Anniversary of Philippine Independence
May kinalaman ba ang musika sa pagiging magiting? Kaya ba nating ipakita sa pamamagitan ng pag-awit ang ating pagmamahal sa bansa?

In celebration of the 125th anniversary of Philippine Independence, Ayala Foundation, in partnership with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, The Metropolitan Theater, the Local Historical Committees Network, and Chooks-to-Go, is proud to present “Duyan Ka ng Magiting: The Ninth Magiting Conference.”

The live, in-person event will feature not just informative and inspirational discussions, but also musical performances. It will revolve around the subject of Philippine history and music, particularly the role of the Philippine National Anthem in building the nation.

The Ninth Magiting Conference will be held at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila on June 5, which coincides with the 125th anniversary of the commissioning of the Marcha Nacional Fiilipina, now known as the Philippine National Anthem.

HIGHLIGHTS

1. BROTTAG: KNEAD TO KNOW
Experience the art of making bread

The Goethe-Institut Manila invites everyone to celebrate the art of making bread in a bread baking workshop. The bread baking workshop will be done by Richard Manapat, founder of Brie and Rye Bakery, one of the many bakers who has taken on the unique challenge of learning German techniques of baking - no easy feat in the Philippines. Richard will demonstrate how to make 6 German breads, where after each demonstration we will give away free samples for the guests to taste.

The event will be open to the public and slots to the workshop will be given on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event. Everyone in the venue can watch the workshop but only a total of 50 guests will be able to get a free sample of the bread. Aside from the bread baking workshop, we will also give away small tokens of bread to participants who would join us in our mini bread trivia game.

Name: Bea Charlyn Laiño

Describe your role: For FELIP's solo career, I help oversee his long-term goals, find opportunities and market their music. I act as his representative and advise him to help shape his career direction and professional activities.

Favorite part of your job: My favorite part of this job is that I get front-row seats in witnessing the growth of an artist and a person.

Best performance you ever had and why?
I think one of the best events that I've been to is We Play Here of Warner Music Philippines last April 27, 2023. It was a night filled with outstanding music. The flow was very engaging and exciting as well and the energy of all the bands and FELIP himself was really contagious.

Any upcoming events you're excited for and why?
I'm excited for the next events that FELIP will be in because these are avenues for him to share his talent.

Current obsession: I'm currently obsessed with numerous local bands here in the Philippines. I listen to their music a lot daily.
